Rather than praise you [AGAIN] for such great art and timeless writing, I'll just let you know when this comic starts to suck. Um, *cough*, that may take awhile...
I must confess that I had trouble focusing on this story until the kid was introduced. (It also helped that you used my last name on the Ed Asner guy...and spelled it correctly!) But now I am totally engaged. I can follow events of a fantastical nature as long as they are interacting with "dull" reality now and then...
The arm in panel four of this page is soooo sweet Kirby, I can barely stand it. When this gets its own book, you'll have to color it. But the black and white reads so cleanly.
AWESOME! The Kraken should be in every story!! I mean that too. If it was in the Wizard of Oz??...come on- that'd be great!!! Gone with the Wind? Bliss!!
"RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!!!"
THANK YOU! For once someone agrees with me about DeNiro!!
However- I still love both him and the Kraken. Probablyt he Kraken more though. I'd love to see the Kraken in a DeNiro role!
I am curious how you know about Leviathan. He exists in Jewish midrashic sources but seems to be somewhat of an obscure source. Where did you come across him?
Hey Sara,
As you probably know, the word "leviathan" has it's roots in the Hebrew language, and many people might first encounter it as part of some Judeo-Christian heritage.
The word has since entered wider usage as any large sea monster, or whale, or beyond that, and large, monstrous thing, etc.
I changed the spelling from "lEviathan" to "lOviathan" because I'm combining "Love" and "leviathan" to create a new word: "Loviathan" meaning, "a love of monstrous proportions".

Yes - I understood the pun and thought it was very clever. That is what attracted me to your comic on the site. If you are not familiar with the texts dealing with Leviathan, I highly recommend you check it out. There are some great stories involving the whale and battles at the end of time. Very epic.

Is he in more danger from the Kraken, or from "breathing" in the bottom of the East River?
